“John and I met just shy of two years ago. Neither of us can remember exactly how those first interactions went, but in December 2013 John and I went on our first date… ice skating! He wore a Spartan hockey jersey, a newsies hat, and brought his own hockey skates. I borrowed Kara’s figure skates and only stumbled a total of three times (no falls!).
I remember coming home from our first date feeling like I had met such a uniquely strong and yet gentle and caring man. We talked about mission trips, church and faith, the arts, overseas travel, working in direct care, our love for MSU and the Michigan State Spartans…
…Did I mention that our first date lasted about four hours??”
